Christian Berkshire Benefit Dinner PDF Print E-mail

The Family and Friends of Christian Berkshire would like for you to know that they are having a benefit dinner on April 11, 2010 at the Morgan R-1 Schools cafeteria.
Christian is the son of Kaleb and Shelley (Marriott) Berkshire, the grandson of Paul and Gail Marriott formerly of Stover, and the great grandson of Delmon and Waneta Marriott, Herman and Beth Proehl, and Dena Proehl, and many other family and friends in the Morgan County area.  Doctors discovered while Christian’s dad was in Iraq serving in the Army, that Christian has a very rare form of cancer (Glial) and will need immediate treatment.  He has already had a shunt placed in his brain to relieve pressure and a surgery to remove the tumor in the spinal cord.  Unfortunately, doctors were unable to remove all of the tumor and will be undergoing treatments to fight this terrible disease.
We are hosting this benefit dinner along with a silent auction in the hopes of trying to offset some of the cost the family will endure.  If you would like to make a donation to Christian’s family, contact Mendy (Marriott) Fischer @ 573-377-4677 or Michael Marriott @ 573-377-4118 or you can send donations to Christian’s Foundation Mendy Fischer 18857 Quail Run Road, Stover Mo. 65078.  Thank you for your support and prayers!  The Family and Friends of Christian Berkshire

Sacred Heart / Finals of Kaysinger Conference Tournament PDF Print E-mail

The Stover Bulldogs finished second in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament with a loss to the Sacred Heart Gremlins 44-31 on Saturday, February 13, at SFCC in Sedalia.
The Bulldogs led 6-4 in a low scoring affair with both teams having a difficult time connecting with the basket during the first period. The Gremlins outscored the Bulldogs 14-6 in the second period to take the lead at the half, 18-12.
In the third period, the Gremlins increased their lead and went up 31-21 at the close of the quarter. Sacred Heart outscored Stover 13-10 in the final period to come away with the championship trophy.
Tyler Wilson led all scorers with a game-high 16 points. Thatcher Wehmeyer and Chris LeClair chipped in 4 points each.
Wilson and Landon Rymer each had 9 rebounds. LeClair and Austin Beckmann each added 4 boards. Justin Rasa notched 6 steals, and Wilson tallied 3 steals. Wehmeyer and Rasa had 2 assists apiece.

“Going into the game we were concerned about their great perimeter shooters. Our players did a really good job stopping the perimeter game, but their big men scored 32 of their 44 points from the paint area,” summed up Coach Hensley.
“Sacred Heart is a really good basketball team, and I was proud of our effort in most phases of the game,” continued the coach. “We handled their full court pressure defense and did a respectable job on the boards, considering they had a definite size advantage. It is difficult to beat a high caliber team going 10 of 47 from the field and 11 of 21 from the free throw line. Even though things did not turn out the way we wanted, I am still proud of the team, and they should be congratulated for their second place finish.”
